TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE

WEST PEORIA CITY HALL

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10, 2011, 6:30 PM

 

 

  1.  CALL TO ORDER- Meeting was called to order by Chair Venzon at 6:30 PM.

 

  2.  ROLL CALL – Members present were: Chair Venzon and Alderman Reagan. Alderman

       Ganson was not in attendance. Also present were: Mayor Dillon, City Administrator John

       Carlson, Street Department Manager Henry Strube and City Engineer Alicia Hermann and

       Jeff Hermann.

 

  3.  ADDITIONS TO OR DELETIONS FROM THE AGENDA – None.

 

  4.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES – 10/13/2011 – It was moved by Alderman Reagan and

       seconded by Chair Venzon to approve the minutes.

                       

  5.  FINANCIAL STATEMENT – The report was reviewed and accepted as presented.

 

  6.  HERMANN & ASSOCIATES INVOICES – It was moved by Alderman Reagan and

       seconded by Chair Venzon to approve payment.

 

  7.  CITY ENGINEER’S REPORT – City Engineer Alicia Hermann gave the report.

            1) Ashland Avenue is finished.

            2) Sterling Avenue Phase I – They are looking at a letting date of spring 2014. There are

                some other items that need to be finished.

                        a. Evaluate traffic management.

                        b. Get IDS plans from IDOT.

                        c. Set up meetings with nearby businesses; re: closures and detours.

                        d. Submit Environmental Survey Results

                        e. Look at storm sewer and evaluate the condition of trunk storm sewer and 2

                            missing manholes.

            3) Waverly/Callender – Ms. Hermann presented estimates of probable costs. All costs

                 include a 10% contingency and the work can be broken down into several phases if

                 needed to accommodate funding.

 

  8.  STREET DEPARTMENT MANAGER’S REPORT – Street Department Manager Mr.

       Strube spoke about the street project on Kenwood Avenue. It has been halted because of the

       closing of the asphalt companies for the year. Seeding will most likely be put off until

       spring. He will be doing some street patching and sweeping the streets. There was also a

       discussion of salt supplies and usage.

           

  9.  SIDEWALKS – This was covered in Item # 8.

 

10.  DISCUSSION REGARDING BABU DEVELOPMENT – No discussion.

 

11.  PUBLIC COMMENT – None.

 

12.  CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT

a. GOALS – Goals are okay.

 

13.  PUBLIC COMMENT – None.

          

14.  OTHER BUSINESS – None.

 

15.  ADJOURNMENT – 6:53 PM.
