MINUTES LAND USE COMMITTEE WEST PEORIA CITY HALL 2506 W. ROHMANN AVENUE WEST PEORIA, ILLINOIS, 61604 WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2011, 6:30 PM
1. CALL TO ORDER – Meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Chair Dohm.
2. ROLL CALL – Chair Dohm, Alderman Reagan and Alderwoman Thomas were present. Also present: Mayor Dillon, Economic Development Coordinator Gene Pratt and Code Enforcement Officer Bill O’Neill.
3. ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS TO AGENDA – There was discussion of cancelling the December meeting as it is so close to the Christmas holiday. It was moved by Alderman Reagan and seconded by Alderwoman Thomas to cancel the December meeting.
4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM REGULAR MEETING – 10/19/2011 – It was moved by Alderwoman Thomas and seconded by Alderman Reagan to approve the minutes.
5. REVIEW OF MONTHLY FINANCIAL REPORT – The report was reviewed and accepted as presented.
6. PUBLIC COMMENT – None.
7. LEGAL ACTION/NUISANCE PROPERTIES – Mr. Pratt said that there are judgments for demolition of the properties at 110 South Cedar and 2120 West Callender. City Attorney Bill Connor suggested waiting for 30 days to begin the demolition process in case there are any appeals. There was discussion of problems with a property on Edna Court. There was a suggestion of possibly calling the Health Department about the issues.
8. REVIEW OF ZONING REPORTS –The reports were reviewed. Mr. O’Neill stated that he has been dealing with several garbage and debris issues. Chair Dohm suggested proceeding to send fines. There was also a discussion of the fence issue on Shirldon Court. The owner has applied for a variance. Mr. Pratt said he would talk to City Attorney Bill Connor about the options.
9. ASPHALT ISSUE – No report.
10. CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT – Mr. Carlson was not in attendance. a. ANNEXATION UPDATE – No report. b. GOALS – okay.
11. PUBLIC COMMENT – None.
12. OTHER BUSINESS – None.
13. ADJOURNMENT – 7:04 PM.
