MINUTES

LAND USE COMMITTEE

WEST PEORIA CITY HALL

2506 W. ROHMANN AVENUE

WEST PEORIA, ILLINOIS, 61604

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16, 2010, 6:30 PM

 

   1.  CALL TO ORDER – Meeting was called to order at 6:40 PM by Chair Dohm.

 

   2.  ROLL CALL – Chair Dohm, Alderman O’Neill and Alderwoman Thomas were present.

        Also present: Economic Development Coordinator Gene Pratt and City Clerk Carole 

        Stephens.

 

  3.  ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS TO AGENDA – None.

 

   4.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM REGULAR MEETING – 5/19/2010 – It was moved

        by Alderman O’Neill and seconded by Alderwoman Thomas to approve the minutes as

        presented.

 

   5.  REVIEW OF MONTHLY FINANCIAL REPORT – The report was reviewed and accepted  

        as presented.

 

   6.  PUBLIC COMMENT – None.

 

 7.  REVIEW OF ZONING REPORT – Code Officer Dan Sullivan was not in attendance. The

      reports were reviewed. Chair Dohm asked about the house at Nebraska Avenue and Pierson

      Avenue. He said that it needs to be looked at. He asked if there was any information on 1325

     Market Street. Mr. Pratt said he has not heard anything more.

 

   8.  1325 MARKET STREET – DISCUSSION – This was discussed in item #7.

 

   9.  ADVERTISING SIGNS ON PEORIA SPEEDWAY FENCE – DISCUSSION – Mr. Pratt

        stated that Sherrie Hamilton has asked about putting up advertising signs for businesses.

        City code allows for plastic banner signs on buildings or fences. This would have to be

        modified but it is not a pressing issue at this time. Ms. Hamilton has said no one has asked

       for this yet, but she would like to be able to do this if someone should ask her.

 

 10.  ASPHALT ISSUE – Chair Dohm said he is still watching what the County is doing in

        regards to this. He stated that he would like to keep it on the agenda.

 

 11.  CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT – Mr. Carlson was not in attendance. Mr. Pratt gave 

        the report.

a. ANNEXATION UPDATE – Mr. Pratt said that Peoria Disposal is closing soon on the purchase of some properties that will make their property contiguous with the Peoria Speedway property.

b. FUTURE CITY HALL BUILDING – DISCUSSION – No discussion.

c. GOALS – No discussion.

 

 

 12.  OTHER BUSINESS – None.

 

 13.  PUBLIC COMMENT – None.

 

 14.  ADJOURNMENT – 7:06 PM.
