Economic Development
Discover a Hidden Gem in Central Illinois... Discover West Peoria!
Gene Pratt
Development Coordinator
The goal of the Planning & Development Office is to foster economic growth and an improved quality of life in West Peoria by encouraging the creation and attraction of new businesses, the retention and expansion of existing businesses, new job creation and a more diversified tax base. The Planning and Community Development Coordinator works closely with the Plan Commission, the Land Use Committee, and the Zoning Officer on future development throughout the City.
West Peoria seeks to redevelop and enhance its main business corridors, Western Avenue and Farmington Road; and also to revitalize the downtown area, the Sterling and Rohmann intersection. To help accomplish these goals, a Tax Increment Financing District (TIF) has been established and a business survey was distributed to
explore
the
needs and concerns of local business owners.
